Birth Assistant Services for Out-of-Hospital Labor & Birth with Licensed Midwives
As a Deaf birth assistant, I offer unique clinical and supportive assistance to midwives during labor and delivery. While my approach is deeply empathetic and hands-on, I also bring valuable clinical skills to the birth space. I am committed to supporting midwives in creating a safe, organized, and effective birth environment by handling key responsibilities such as charting, emergency preparedness, birth space setup, and more.
I assist with accurate and detailed charting, ensuring the birth process is well-documented for both medical records and legal purposes. I’m prepared to support with emergency medical supplies, keeping them organized and ready for use, and responding swiftly in urgent situations to ensure the safety of both the birthing person and their baby.
I take responsibility for preparing the birth space, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready and organized. After the birth, I help with cleanup, ensuring a smooth transition from labor to postpartum care.
As a Deaf individual, I rely on visual cues to navigate the birth space. This allows me to stay attuned to the needs of the birthing person without relying on verbal communication, offering a calming presence and ensuring that I can assist without disrupting the flow of the birth.
I am always ready with emergency supplies and can assist midwives in handling unexpected situations, ensuring that all necessary equipment and resources are readily accessible.
I bring a compassionate, adaptable approach to each birth. I understand that every labor and delivery is unique, and I work closely with the midwife and family to respond to their specific needs.
With my training as a midwife apprentice and doula, I’m familiar with the clinical needs of the birth process and understand how to support the midwife and family in every step of the labor and delivery.
A Note on Availability:
Although I am eager to provide birth assistant services to other midwives, I am currently waiting until I am fully licensed to offer this service. My plans are to begin assisting other midwives in late 2027 as I continue to find others who share my values of inclusive, compassionate care.
If you are a midwife interested in working together, please reach out to me so we can discuss future partnerships. I look forward to contributing to your clients’ positive and supportive birth experiences.
