FAQ

We understand that communication is key when it comes to your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Our services are designed to provide families with the support, accessibility, and care they need throughout this important experience. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive, and if you have any further inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

A Deaf doula provides culturally affirming care for Deaf and hard-of-hearing families, offering direct ASL communication and advocacy to ensure equitable care.

Absolutely! I work with families of all backgrounds and abilities who value inclusive and affirming care.

A midwife provides clinical care, such as monitoring the baby's health, managing labor, and delivering the baby.

A doula focuses on non-medical support, offering comfort measures, advocacy, and guidance.

Outside of my own 4 births, I have attended in some capacity, over 75 births. Some in hospital, some at a birth center, and others at home.

Techniques include massage, breathing exercises, position changes, counter-pressure, visualization, and using tools like birthing balls, warm compresses, and rebozos. What often works best is getting mom in positions to help baby navigate the pelvis, and often times, but not always, this means keeping mom upright and moving.

Unfortunately, just like you would not want your interpreter to also be your mom, this goes the same way. A doula is there for all of the emotional support you may need whereas a midwife is primarily there for the medical support.

However, many midwives have successfully served women without doulas for amazing birth experiences. Building trunst and finding a provider that you feel comfortable with and you can trust is key.
