Ultrasound * Sonographer Recommendations

A good ultrasound provider can help families see baby, understand what is being checked, and feel more informed during pregnancy. These visits are also a helpful way to share important information with your midwife. 

Anatomy Scan

The anatomy scan checks baby’s growth and major body systems. This is usually done around the middle of pregnancy.

Growth Check

A growth scan may help check how baby is growing. Your care team may recommend this if extra information is needed.

Placenta and Fluids

Ultrasound can show where the placenta is and check the fluid around baby. This gives your care team helpful information for pregnancy and birth planning.

Baby Position

Later in pregnancy, ultrasound may help confirm baby’s position. This can be helpful if your provider is unsure by touch alone.

Peace of Mind

Sometimes seeing baby and getting more information can help families feel calmer. Ultrasound is one tool that can support informed care.

Working with your care team

Sonographers do the scan, and your provider reviews the results with you. Always ask your midwife if you have questions or concerns.
